Large bathroom mirror

I need to update this frameless mirror because it is too difficult to remove because it is inset into the tiles. I was thinking of just putting a frame around it but, because of the tiles, it won't work. If I put a frame on the mirror, what do I do with the sides that are visible?

I have a mirror similar and I elected to tile around it---I used mosaic tiles and grouted them in silver. I also finished it along the sides that were visible and it really finished the mirror and room off.

Did you place the tile on the mirror, if so, how did you finish the sides with the tiles? Could you possibly post a pic for me? Thanks for your input

You can now purchase squares of self adhesive tiles at the box stores, sometimes at Habitat for less money, and "frame" your mirror with the design of your choice. OR, just purchase 1/2"x 4" pre-primed slats and mount them as a frame. Lots of options. Best of luck.

We used liquid nails and attached a wood trim frame right to the mirror. Had to notch out for the brackets that hold up the mirror. Hardest part was finding a way to hold it in place while drying. We have a narrow bath, so we had trim pieces wedged across the room.

I also have a very large bathroom mirror. I decided to leave it as it bounces light so well around the (windowless bathroom) but I saw a great decor idea so I'm on the hunt to do the same thing as it looks really "glam" in my opinion. My daughter's a designer and loved it too. I hope you can see the following photo. I am keeping my eye out for a similar type of mirror at HomeSense (Home Goods in the US).

Thanks, Elaine. It is a great idea and I was just at Home Goods and they had a large selection of mirrors. Time for another trip!

They also make a stainless steel tile facade that is just adhesive on the back. You an stick them to anything. You could use something like that to frame out your mirror.

I once had this issue with a client's bathroom. I merely painted a 'frame' around the mirror in a color we used in the room (in this case it was an olive green). Make it as wide as you have room for. Easy and very cost effective.

Thank you for your idea. That definitely give it a nice modern design.

Someone one here has a similar post of what she did - she bought small decorative square tiles and "framed" the mirror by gluing the tiles to the actual mirror since she couldn't get around it.

My only question is what you did to the sides? Some of mine are exposed while some of the side edges and the bottom bump up against tile.

You could glue wood trim pieces around the mirror. If you paint it first it will save you from having to paint it on the wall. Tile too would look good. there is even decorative wood pieces that can be placed at corners so all cuts are straight cuts. Liquid nails has several adhesives that would probably work well on a mirror.

I used the Loews premade corners and precut frame pieces and put directly on mirror and it's fabulous and sturdy. first one I caulked and painted .

another time I did Not caulk but painted, both fabulous. Tip. They come primed so paint before installation as so much easier
