My $50 Floor

$50

Easy
I'm a teacher. A house-flipper. And a DIYer. Each flip requires creative TLC--and the most inexpensive project was my $50 floor! https://bachelorettepadflip.wordpress.com/
Old, dirty, ugly vinyl BEFORE
In this house flip, my budget was beyond tight, but I knew that ugly, dirty, dated vinyl in the sunroom needed some TLC if I had any hope of selling this place!
The sunroom not only had ugly vinyl, it had filthy indoor/outdoor carpet in a portion of the room. It wasn't even glued down.
Priming is essential for success!
My first step was to hand-sand the entire floor and fill in any holes with putty. After step 1, I primed the entire floor with an OIL based primer using a regular sponge roller.
After two coats
Then I chose the OIL based porch paint and applied two coats of paint (Rockport Gray), again using just regular sponge rollers. The only downside- this paint requires about two full days to dry, so I couldn't walk on the flooring for a short while.
Before and after
With just $50, I created a brand new floor! The pattern in the vinyl showed through to create character, but the ugly, dated colors are gone forever!
The finished project
After the paint dried, I added some cheery accents to create an inviting space.
