Best outlet to sell flipped pieces outside of a shop

To all those who upcycle or flip vintage pieces, I will be working out of my garage, I don't have access to a retail shop, nor will I make enough to justify. What would be the best place to sell my pieces? Shipping on furniture would be prohibitive. Any experience with this? Craigslist doesn't seem like the place.

Have you any access to an antique shop or mall? You would have to rent a space to display your work ....I did this for 15 years in several places where we live and it was a great way to keep busy rehabbing pieces to sell. Another option is a consignment store where you also need to split the selling price with them...do not know if you have any of those near you...just some ideas I know have worked for me...good luck and have fun!

Thank You Jan Loehr; I've definitely thought about the antique space but I have a slow turnout of projects as I'm a full time SAH mom. Maybe I could find someone who has a space and just add a few pieces of mine. Thanks for the input!
  • That is a GREAT question. I list my pieces on Kijiji (the Canadian equivalent of Craigslist) but I find people low ball and want to offer really low prices for a piece that took quite a while. It is really discouraging. It would be great to hear from others who make a good living at it!

    I would recommend researching Etsy.com

Instead of Craigslist - look on Facebook for local selling sites in your area - they might be called something like (your county) treasures, or (your city) furniture and décor. or something like that. We have many in our area and people meet up at neutral places like a Wal mart lot or grocery store, or at a home if the item is large ( I recommend never for a woman to be alone when selling items to strangers)

and make a facebook site for your "business" and get your friends to "like" it and you will generate interest. NO cost to you for this!
