DIY full kitchen cabinets real wood

This is my 3rd kitchen remodel, but the first time I have actually gutted all the cabinets. I have all my new appliances and have finished removing one wall and adding length to another. I have all my measurements and even a design for cabinet height, width, and depth that I need; BUT.... I have no idea of the quality of cabinets except for the ones I chose at Lowes. I'm curious if I can save and DIY this by ordering RTA, cabinets to go, Ikea???? Who has done their own cabinets by ordering them online? There are no local stores for any of above. Please recommend whom should I order from??? I do want solid wood and quality. If I go with Lowes and I may, the cost will be about & 9000 and that's okay but it will be months before I can afford it.

Do you have a Habitat for Humanity resale store which offer great discounts on closeout materials.
  • I found my cabinets at a designer/cabinet warehouse in my area. They were either floor model or taken from a job they did and some were brand new. I found them on Craiglist a few years back. so i would do a google search for kitchen cabinet warehouses in your area. I would also check online to see if you can order directly but I warn you- you may want to make the trip to pick them up because shipping can be pricey. I would go into a model homes and even open houses to see cabinets and then look inside for a name of the cabinets which sometimes is on the inside of the drawer on expensive lines - I have some KraftMaid cabinets that are good quality plus the drawers have runners than go back in. good luck!

I purchased cabinets at Kraftmaid outlet for cooktop, and tall cabinets for storage and the double oven. I also purchased RTA cabinets from an outlet store...all wood, soft close doors etc. Now I will say the Kraftmaid cabinets are better quality. I could not afford the price ...but if I had it to do it over again I would have bought the cabinets without doors for five bucks and bought my doors at Lowes orHome Depot or just hunted for the right colors or sizes. You can also buy entire kitchens. We have Kraftmaid outlet open every other week here in Warren Ohio.

My sister-in-law redid her kitchens with RTA cabinets from Barkers in Portland area. Was very satisfied.
