Can plastic tiles be painted?

We recently bought our home, and I hate the plastic tiles in the tub/shower area. We can't afford to renovate yet so I was hoping that I could at least paint them until we can renovate. Can they be painted and last through daily showers? Really need your help! Thanks!

You should be able to buy paint for outdoor plastic furniture at any home improvement store. It is weather proof so it should be good inthe shower. You can use it on Kids outdoor plastic too. It should do the trick.

I've painted plastic, metal and ceramic tiles in tub surrounds and all with good success! CLEANING the soap scum off is one of the MOST important parts and unless you don't have to use the shower for about 3 or 4 days, don't do this. First, clean, then paint with a good primer and let dry thoroughly. Then choose the color and sheen of the paint to use ( I use Behr paint with primer in satin) and roll on two coats letting each dry thoroughly. Make sure to caulk with good caulk when finished!

An off white or tan is a good choice and you can paint the surrounding smaller edger tiles in white or even a deeper tone of original color. Keep it simple and be sure to tape off everything

Rather than go through the effort of painting them, would you consider a beautiful shower curtain? It's an inexpensive quick fix to update any bathroom. Simply pull it closed.

Hi Minnesota Mom....I have a beautiful shower curtain now....its when I get into the shower I am bothered by the ugly tiles that have scum stained grout. Only way I'll be happy is to paint them or replace them. But thanks for your input! Much appreciated!
