From Cat Scratching Chair to Cute Chair Chic

Sometimes you just have to paint a chair and if you take a peek at what I started with you may wonder what in the world happened to that chair. I am embarrassed to say that I have had this chair for a long time holding on to memories and hiding the chair under a plant. But the other day inspiration struck when I was doing a couple other chairs, so I did it- I dragged the chair outside and tried to use my refinisher on it. I worked and worked on it but the wood had years of gunk and the wood was not that pretty underneath.
Painting was not my first choice but there was no rescuing this piece so painting was the obvious choice. I just happened to have some expensive chalk paint in a boring color that I had to use because I spent the money on. The color works because it is is gray and my kitchen has gray but the gray was so boring so I knew I needed something to add some WOW.
It took me a couple trips to the fabric and craft stores trying to find "the" fabric and finally after a week and a couple different trips I found this fabric. It's bright, fun, and gardeny.
I hope my inspiration rubs off and if you have a chair that is in desperate need of a makeover just go for it- you can always paint over it again.
Check out more pictures and the story of the cat scratching chair on my blog and you can check out other projects too. Thanks for stopping by
