Aside from a bit of distressing putting fabric or wallpaper on the back of a shelf can really make it special
the very plain before
a very pink step two
taking it back to grey and adding some color and distressing
perfect and ready for the kitchen

I love the way the gray works with the colors in the background. And I love how you added depth to the gray with the pink undercoat.

I like this very much. I currently have a celery green bookcase sitting in my living room, which I've been trying to decide whether to play with or not. I think you've given me the inspiration to get moving on it.
