Base Cabinet Turned Potting Bench

Lost & Found
by Lost & Found
I love poking my head into the local Habitat for Humanity Restore from time to time--I never know what amazing things will show up there! Awhile back I found these two base cabinets that had been reduced to 75% off, which made them only $25 for both of them!
We are in desperate need of more storage in our home, so I knew I could find someplace to use these cabinets. Sure enough, I was able to find a place for the cabinet with doors on our backyard patio. Two coats of Fusion Mineral Paint helped give it new life as cute potting bench!
I took the doors off and left the shelves open. Now I can use it to store my pots, garden tools, even kid's toys. The top was made using cedar fence pickets we had leftover from a recent fence project.
Since Fusion is waterproof, it is perfect for outdoor use. And the cedar is treated as well and holds up great to rain, water, and dirt. If you want to see more of my makeovers or learn more about Fusion Mineral Paint, please visit my blog!

Hi. I am very interested in this fusion paint. Will the paint stand well on wooden dining chairs? You know shoes rubbing on the legs/posts (in that areas) could cause paints to wear or peel off. It is my concern. Thank you. Amy

What did you make from the second cabinet? Just love what you did to the first one!

Will have to check out our store. Most of the cabinet I have seen are not in this good a condition. I have noticed the same upward price trend at our Goodwill. Just go to the bargain bin store now.

I lived in your area for 7 yrs. I raised 4 sons there. We lived in a rented house and fixed it up. It was a shocking culture shock for us, beings we are from the North. It's a longgggggg story. We enjoyed our stay, until it was ready for another change in the country. Btw, I love your makeover, not to forget what I was writing about. :))
  • This is a great idea, I want to give this a try.
