Can a clear glass oil lamp chimney be tinted?

I have a vintage cobalt blue oil lamp for which I'm trying to find a replacement chimney, but there are only clear replacements available at a price I can justify with my budget. Please advise if you know how to tint and if the tinting will be heat resistant.
Love the lamp, couldn't toss it after the chimney was broken.

I have seen plenty of ways to colour glass on Pinterest, including lamps. Just type it in the search and see what comes up. Good luck.

you can buy paint that's specifically for glass. You have to bake the piece when you're done painting it and the directions are very clear on how to do that. I don't know that you'll get the cobalt blue you're looking for with just one coat though. Hope this helps :)

If you type "colbalt blue lamp chimney" into the Google search engine, it will find many places that have them for sale, $10.00 and under. Good luck!

If you would like to get a vintage chimney I can put you in touch with someone in NC who is closing down his business and may have what you need.

I went thru about 20 pages on eBay with no luck finding the size I need. I've decided to order a clear chimney; it will still be pretty and usable. My husband also reminded me that it would give off more light with a clear chimney.

Matching colours can be tricky... a noticeable difference comes out looking mismatched. Perhaps choose another colour like amber, but then add a cobalt rim on top to make the 2 pieces look as tho they belong together.

@Duval.26 I noticed the many shades of blue as I searched online and the thought you just mentioned has already entered my mind. I may do better just getting a clear one. I can play with the tinting on other glass before attempting it on the chimney. I appreciate the input.

Check Pinterest for cobalt glass staining tutorials. You can purchase the glass stain from any craft store/possible Amazon. If you plan on using the lamp with kerosene, make sure the stain you use is fire safe.

I know you can mix Vitrail glass paint with Acetone nail polish remover to tint glass items.

@Thank You Sparkles That's one I'd never have thought of. I'd have to ponder the how of placing it on the chimney, but it is creative challenges that exercise the brain.

They slide over the top and rest on the fat part of the chimney.

Didn't know they made them. I searched for chimney shades and nothing came up but chimneys.
