It's nice to have trees, away from the house for afternoon shade. If on top of the house, not only will they mess up the roof and make a great squirrel ladder but they promote mold an mildew growth. In Atlanta, 'The city beneath the trees', it's not like we don't have enough trees (it pretty much looks like a jungle) to cut down a few to protect our property. Best, Charles
