Vintage Table With London Map Decoupage

A vintage table, quite old, receives a new lease of life. After a couple of weeks of thinking about what I would do with this table, I finally decided to apply some decoupage on the top using a London Map.

The table was quite old but very sturdy and only with a few cracks on the top surface.

I haven't taken pictures of the process, but it was quite simple and easy. First I've painted the base and edge of the top with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Provence. I've let it dry a bit and sanded lightly the legs only, not the edge of the top. Then I finished off with dark wax for an aged look.

Then I've applied the map with decoupage glue and let it dry while I finished off the edges of the top by distressing and finishing with dark wax the same as I did with the legs.

After the glue dried, I've given the top 2 coats of Annie Sloan Lacquer to seal and make the top more durable. This lacquer is a matt finish, so you don't actually see any shiny surface.

A perfect accent side table for a living room or entrance hall. A very easy project that took me 2 days from start to finish.

The final result was really cool.
