Pond in a box ?

Ok... I usually do not like kits but we needed a water feature for a recent project and custom was not in the budget. We purchased this "pond in a box" and for around $800.00 it came with stone and everything. I was suprised how nice it turned out and still allowed for us to be creative with the layout. This is a great DIY project for someone who would like to build a pond and is unsure of what materials they may need. It is not for those who want a large pond but great for a small space!

I would never have imagined you could get those kinds of results from something that comes in a box like that.

I did one from a box and it turned out great. Why not get one in a box? Everything you need is right there and often they are more cost effective than buying separate parts. Plus, they come with detailed printed and (often) dvd instructions.

This did turn out nice! But $800 aint cheap. And you had to add more stone... I don't see how it could have been more expensive to buy "out of the box", but have never built one so.......

I have 4 ponds. 1 preform, (yawn), 1 concrete, (sigh) and 2 from a box-YIPPEE! They have the shape I wanted, not what I could find at Lowes & The Concrete Haven! LOVE my ponds from boxes!

Oh, and mine costs less than $200, and I added my own stone.

that is quite nice for what labor it takes to get it together! looks good to me i would enjoy it in my backyard if i had 1600.00 that is because parts times two is what they seem to get here

I dug the hole myself, bought a liner and small pump. I bought a few lava rocks. They're light weight so don't cost much. The plants and rest of the rocks were mine. Built it for less than $100.00. And it was good therapy for me. Much cheaper than a shrink. :)

I'm interested in a pump system kit - leave out the liner and rocks. What's a good source?

Wow!! Even at $800, it still sounds reasonable considering some of those preformed plastic ones can run $150 or more, and that's without the stone. Plus, the box kit - I'm guessing - would make it easy for those of us who are landscaping challenged!!

I can't read the brand name on the box. Could you furnish the name, please?

Here is another option for pond-in-a-box from Savio, but it does not include the stone. What is different here is that the Ultimate Pond Products kit does not include a skimmer or waterfall box. We build all our water features with skimmers, as it greatly eases the maintenance from falling leaves and other debris. The pump is located in the skimmer, and it operates similar to a swimming pool, where much of the leaf debris collects in a basket in the skimmer. ...»

The Savio skimmerfilter is my favorite skimmer and is the easiest to install. It does not require any glue, silicone, or adhesive to seal the liner to the face of the skimmer. It is a simply a well made unit. I typically assemble the individual components for each water feature we build based on the exact size/location/design of the water feature, but this kit is a great for a do-it-yourself landscaper.

@Nancy L. - I certainly didn't pay $800 for mine. That's outrageous! Mine is not as big as the one shown. I found mine On Sale for less than $50. Rocks don't come with any box kit, that I know of. They can be gotten just about anywhere for free.

Okay, cost aside...and I'm not sure we have the info to decide he over paid...this is awesome! The stone would be expensive to buy, but if you decide to carry it farther out there are quarries that sell it by the pallet. Nice job for anyone, let alone a diy project!

Hummm......Enjoy Wine In A Box relaxing next to Pond In A Box?

Sorry ~~ I'm not too fond of the sharp-edged rocks; not particularly natural looking ~~ of course, one might ask, am I ~ ?!

Adding a picture of my pond to share.

Bonnie, you have a beautiful pond. I will also agree that the sharp-edged flagstone is not necessarily the most natural rock for a water feature.

Why? Because in nature, the rocks that you will find around moving water will be weathered and fairly smooth.

Whoever said "blondes" were fair ~~ ? (chuckles.....)

Have you perhaps entertained the idea of replacing some of the sharped-edged rocks with smooth-edged ones?
