Sofa and chair recovered

In watching design shows, it always seemed that it would cost more to recover than to buy new. We bought this pair for $50 at a garage sale and stopped in to a local (Vegas) upholsterer and was thrilled with a quote of $295 for both including fabric.

I love what you did with it! I just recently bought similar looking chairs for my office, That is a surprisingly low amount. Good for you!

Steve you're right about the cost of reupholstering being more than investing in new pieces sometimes. The determining factor is whether the old sofa & chair have "good bones" i.e still structurally sound & intact support system - no loose springs things like that. If these were low end pieces probably not worth the cost but if these were well made to begin with you will definitely end up w/a good investment. I'd say for a total of $345 - especially w/all those buttons and the cost of the fabric included, you did OK!! Congrats!

Wow Steve these are amazing. I'm a big fan of MCM furniture being I was brought up in that era.

Maria, Steve said on another thread of his that it was an auto upholsterer but didn't say the name. I hope he sees this and tells you.

Your welcome,,,,,,,, and post pictures!. It's in the same building as an auto dealer..... it would probably be easier to go to the back of the building ( there is a alley )
