  • Saila, you question seems to have been cut off. If you are asking about replacing a kitchen faucet that has 3 holes with one that only takes two, you can get a blank/cover that fits in the unused hole so that it gets covered up.

i did not realize that. here is my question: i want to replace our kitchen faucet. current one has three holes ( one for the faucet, one for handle and one for the spray. i want to go with just one with pull out sprayer with control on the side ( just one hole). is it doable on a granite counter top? how do you close the existing holes? if i buy a faucet with deck plate will that solve the issue? or are there special hole covers?
  • There are covers you can insert into the unused holes. But if you can find one you like that is wide enough to cover all three holes, that might look a bit more stylish.

My opinion? Choose a faucet that has a "escutcheon" plate. While its not totally stylish, its most practical considering your circumstances. They make "hole plugs" but these would be hole covers that would cover all unused holes - nightmare to clean around each one.
  • you can put in a soap dispenser in the third hole. We drilled an additional hole in our top and put one for hand soap and one for dish soap. Wife ended up putting hand cream in one. Forgot to tell me. Hand cream does not clean dishes very well. So no need to try just in case you were up late one night wondering about that.
  • Post us a pic. Depends on how with the holes were spaced....I don't think you will find a deck plate that will cover all 3 holes...plus you want it to look nice. Best to get a cover for one hole.....and a soap dispenser for the other. You can get them in bronze, stainless, nickel or chrome and they look pretty decent.

Many of the single lever faucets come with a plate that will cover the three holes.

New faucets come with a plate that covers unwanted holes. Check and make sure your new faucet comes with the plate.

II just did this! What I found was a plate on Amazon for $12. It covers the 2 handle holes and has an opening in the center. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004T4468A?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00 Also, I was told Orchard Supply carries round plates that cover just the round holes. They have screw in or plate styles about $3 to $5 each.

We had a faucet that didn't cover that third hole so my husband purchased a pump that the dishwashing liquid goes in. Not only does it fill the hole, it SAVES on dishwashing liquid and saves a lot of mess. We're on the third pump in thirty-six years....yeah I like it!
