What and how to plant in Tasha's memorial.

My 14 year old best friend died over 5 years ago & I have had this memorial to her in the house since that time. I wanted to make it pretty but didn't know how or what to plant. I am ready now and would love to finally utilize it.

that's a tough situation. What about fragrant herbs like creeping thymes of different types and sedums.

Erica, creeping thyme looked so good but I read it grows in zones 5-7. I'm in zone 9. I really would like something like it that can survive in Florida.

What about Creeping Fig? or sedum tetractinum? Those are pretty hardy and should grow in Zone 9

Cultivators I found Dragons blood sedum that grows in zones 3-9. I wanted color and this plant looks colorful. I'll check to see if they have it locally. The next thing will be how to put the plants in the object I posted. It does open up for installation but I've never done this before.

I love the Dragon Blood Sedum! We did a project in Rosemary Beach and used some there so it should work in your area also. I think you are going to have to have a "planting core" with soil inside the heart. You may have to take a commercial grade plastic bag(I think you could do it with a commercial grade garbage bag) and place it in the center of the heart(may have to cut the bag to make it smaller) and fill with soil inside of the heart, then slit small holes in the bag and work the ...»
sedum between the wire and plant in the slits of the bag. It be will be a tight fit but with a little patience I am pretty sure it will work! The bag will produce moisture as well so be careful and not over water. Hope this helps!

Cultivators, I wonder if my fish poop (emulsion) will work without putting in plastic bags and soil? The material in the heart must be good since it has lasted for years inside my house. Maybe if I keep it damp enough it will work? Then I will only have to fill a bucket with fishpond water since I feed the fish very well.

It might work! and if there is already soil in the heart then you are set I would think all you need is plants!

Sherrie, if you want something with an actual bloom, I wonder if you could get perennial peanut to work on a form like that?

Douglas, perennial peanut suddenly is in every yard in my area so I'm bored with it even though it is very nice lookinng. They really spread quickly.
Erica what I really like about the thyme is that it is strongly scented and looks pretty, too. I'll be going to my local gardening center soon. If they don't have it they order it. I just might get the Dragons blood sedum, too. I have plenty of room in the yard. Thank you all for the suggestions.
