My grandfather had a rock collection. I loved those richly colored rocks, these Easter Eggs would have made him proud!
We started with hardboiled eggs. We experimented with both white eggs and ones that had already been dyed.
The eggs were briefly soaked in homemade dye, recipe is on the blog. The eggs should be slightly wet when using this method so that the colors blend together. The slightly wet eggs were then sprinkled with drops of food color right onto the egg.
We added more drops as we went, building up layers of color. It was messy! This would be a fun project for kids!
The finished eggs were put into a cardboard egg carton to dry. More information on the blog!
