Water stopped coming out of my shower head. When the pull tab is out

Normally when I pull the little pole, the water immediately showers down.
Not doing it now.
I still can hear and feel the pressure change, as if it is planning to shower, but doesn't.
Thanks for anyone that helps, without having to pay a plumber to come out!

I know it is a long shot, but is it possible that all that is needed is a good clean? Have a look at this post, it might help: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/clean/house/free-flowing-faucets-2461478

It may have abundance of calcium and lime buildup. I would try to clean it first and see if that is the problem.

Put some white vinegar in a plastic bag , immerse the shower head in it and tie the bag onto it so that it's resting in the vinegar. Leave an hour of so then rinse and brush with toothbrush.

Can you take the shower head off completely? If so, see if the water will come through without the head - if not, the clog is lower. I would try to see where the clog is first. We had a slow moving shower head, and there was some build up so we replaced it, and about a month later, it slowed completely again. I thought, " no way it can be the shower head" and sure enough, when I removed the head, still just a trickle of water. We discovered our hard water had kept depositing plaque and eventually slowed the water completely.

Try taking apart the shower head and cleaning the little screen in a round 1 inch tube that aerated the water. If it is plugged or corroded try cleaning with baking soda and vinegar. If it won't clean you can get replacements at the hardware, clean your shower head now as well.

Old or deteriorating pipework can prove to be one of the main causes in preventing water emerging from a shower head. A build-up of rust within the pipes can cause blockages and potential breaks, either of which can stop the flow of water from a shower head.
