How can I get rid of sidewalk ants making hills on my flagstone patio

I have tried different homemade remedies but none seem to work.

I have used Cayenne pepper for years. Even with cats & children around. I just reapply after every rain. Within weeks they have moved on. The other is a borax & icing sugar mixture. I found that way to expensive. Just sprinkle wherever you have ants & they will move on.

Boric acid mixed with any sweet liquid. Put in small bottle lids and place in areas where pets cannot reach. Scatter around area. The best spray I have found is called Home Defense. I bought it at Lowe's. it lasts about a month. Spray the whole area and borders. Also, "Terro" brand ant bait works really well.
