Make your own beautiful tiered chip and dip tray for any occasion or theme! Chips and dip is a party staple - I love that it's so easy and inexpensive to customize these for themed parties, seasons, and more.
First, pick out a lightweight bowl and plate to create your chip and dip tray. You can use regular plates or plastic ones, though they shouldn't be too terribly heavy. These are a melamine set from Target. They don't have to match - get creative!
Then pick up a glass candlestick like this from the Dollar Store! You could really use any kind of candlestick you want, but you can't beat the price on this one. If you wanted to, you could probably even make a three tiered appetizer tray/server like this too, if you used three plates and two candlesticks!
I used clear Gorilla Glue but you could also use E6000 Craft Adhesive. You want something clear, strong, and permanent. I didn’t get any good photos of the actual gluing process (cut me a little slack, it’s hard to glue and take photos at the same time!), but I just followed the instructions on the bottle. It said to use water to lightly dampen the surface, so I just used a spray bottle to mist the plate and bottom of the bowl before I glued the candlestick on. You’re supposed to clamp it or weigh it down to dry for 24 hours, but since this didn’t really lend itself well to clamping I just balanced a pile of books on top.
All it took me was about 20 minutes to glue this thing together (and waiting 24 hours for it to dry), and now I have an adorable chip and dip set, perfect for outdoor entertaining! It’s so festive and fun! I just love how it turned out. See the full "how to" here - http://www.unoriginalmom.com/diy-tiered-chip-and-dip-tray-with-clear-gorilla-glue/
