How Chalkpaint Transformed A Vintage Table

by Shanna Gilbert
I got this vintage table at a yard sale. The painted top was in great shape but the legs were pretty beat up. I didn't want to sand it so I decided to use chalkpaint since it adheres to anything. I used three coats of yellow DIY chalkpaint, distressed it and coated it with a clear wax. The yellow really brightened it up! To get my DIY chalkpaint recipe just go to my blog!

I also am finding it hard to find your recipe for the chalk paint.

I am not trying hack the post, but here is a recipe for Chalk Paint: 1/2 cup Plaster of Paris; 1/2 Water; plus 1 1/3 cup Paint = 1.8 cups of Chalk Paint. (This is enough to paint a dresser & a bench with 2 coats.) Put Plaster of Paris in a bowl, put the bowl in a box (this keeps it from making a big mess when mixing),slowly add small amounts of water to the P of P. You can always add more water while mixing. Try to make it the consistency of pancake batter. Add 1& 1/3 cup of paint. Hint:You can use a hand mixer to mix your products! If you can't finish painting the same day, cover with plastic wrap and seal tightly with lid to keep air out. It should last 2 days, just remix to make sure there are no lumps. This may not be the recipe that is used on this table. I bought some empty paint cans at Lowes to store paint in.
