How to Pick the Right Fireplace Mantel Decor!
Trying to find the right decor for a large mantel can be tricky. The decor has to be the right scale and tie in with the overall style and colour choice of the room. There are many different options when it comes to selection but after several trips back and forth to many stores the task was challenging!
Option #1 was the right scale, but the french country decor did not suit the traditional style of the room and didn't look right with the stained glass. So, back to the store to see if I could find something better!
Option Just NO! This choice was way off! The urns were overbearing for the mantel and did not suit the room. Although, they looked wonderful on a sideboard table in the foyer, emphasizing the importance of placement. If you can't return your purchase, or can't part with it, play around with the placement by putting the objects in different areas of the room to see what appeals to you! So, back to the store I went!
Option Getting warmer! This ginger urn suits the room, however, I still wasn't happy with how it looked above the stained glass. This was one I couldn't part with, so I found another spot in the room and made it work!
Finally! These are actually wooden vases painted to look like ceramic, so there is no fear (I have two boys) of someone breaking them! Why they work? First, without the branches, the size of the vases would be too small, however, with the branches create height and interest drawing your eyes up. The colour ties into the stained glass and the overall look is more formal suiting the traditional room. They give the stark white mantel a well needed "pop" of colour!
The vases pick up the turquoise in the rug and pillows! See how the ginger urn ties into the pillows!
