Aztec Storage Cabinet Makeover

This little fella has gone through a lot of makeovers because its been repainted three times over a period of 5 years but I think I’m going to stick with this version now.
We’ve had this for God knows how long and it was basically used for storing our towels or linens. It was just a very neglected furniture piece. It was this dark brown cheap wood like some laminate type wood.
If you guys hop on over to the blog you can see the first makeover that I gave this furniture piece.
First off I gave it a good coat of white paint to cover up the previous masterpiece then I went in and painted it this beautiful Turquoise by Americana DecoArt.
I let it completely dry for a day before I started placing the Wood Chips onto the furniture in an Aztec Pattern.

I chose three sizes of the Wood Chips which I bought from Michaels.
Before placing it onto the Cabinet I painted each individually in Gold.
Then it was just a matter of gluing one by one onto the cabinet. I thought it would be a very long and tedious process but it was done under half an hour.
All Done.

What do you guys think?

Looks really nice I like the design and the reuse of the item. If you'd like to improve the look a bit you can straighten the doors by adding shims behind the hinges, The pieces of wood you used on the front would make great shims. Just cut them to size, you may need more than one, then screw hinge back on. If you need to add more than one then you might need longer screws :)
