Mini Rose Guide Part Two: 5 Easy Care Tips for Potted Mini Roses

Mini roses are the perfect addition to your patio or container garden! They add a cheerful, peaceful quality to your porch, and they can be really simple to care for.
Last week I shared part one of this series which was just a basic potting guide for mini roses. That is really the first step to making sure your plant gets started out on the right foot. This week, I have part two live on the blog with five very basic, simple care tips anyone can follow for potted mini roses.
These tips have kept mine looking beautiful during all types of harsh weather in Texas. I have worked with people who live more north of me, so they have different weather, but these tips work for them as well.
Now that you have your mini roses potted properly, it is time to take care of them!
One. Do not let it dry out, but don’t over water!

Sounds like an oxymoron, but just like a regular rose, you really don’t want to over water this. If you follow my planting guide, you shouldn’t have to worry about too much water since you have good drainage in your pot.

I actually water mine almost everyday when it’s warm. If they dry out, they will go into shock and will be more likely to die. Just make sure to check the soil every day or so, to make sure it is damp!
Two. Prune occasionally

My big rose bushes do so well when I prune them, and mini roses do too! It isn’t as big of a deal where you prune them, I would just keep the dead leaves and blooms cut off as often as possible. This will keep the plant healthy.

Three. Sunlight and shade

Really, these do well in either. I have had them in complete shade, and they do well. I have also had on sitting in the sun for most of the day, and it seems to do well in that also.

If you are having a bad heat wave, it would probably be wise to move into a more shady area so it won’t dry out!
