Does anyone know how to clean a very dirty 'fawn' color leather couch?

Question

When I bought these two couches in 1999, they cost me like $6,000+.  The back cushions are not tacked down by anything and they are always getting squished down and well the thing looks sloppy (wish I'd known that they would do that before I purchased them! Que Sera, Sera!) and now with 3 toddler boys and others the color doesn't even look like what it was.  They've been pretty beaten up; however, the frame is strong and they were expensive, what to do or is there anything I can do?  They have been cleaned by people using the worst things so they are really in bad shape as far as the leather goes.  Is there a way to re-stain them?  (Though every scratch in the leather will show up pronounced, wow, I'm talking myself out of this!)

First of all, to clean leather gently, and to remove most leather stains:Use a clean, soft, absorbent cloth.Dampen the cloth with water. Do not overly wet the cloth, because doing that can leave water stains on your leather furniture. The cloth just needs to be damp. Sometimes just spraying water on to the rag with a spray bottle is enough.Apply a small amount of soap to the damp cloth and work it into a lather.Using the cloth, work the cleaner into the leather very gently.Absorb any excess moisture with a clean dry cloth.To restore: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDl_k6XAFKQ

I rehab'd a customers leather sofa using Bri-wax, after a gentle surface clean. It's time consuming but it helped recondition that old leather sofa and cushions back to looking decent. Hang in there!

Try cleaning with a bar of Dove Soap. I cleaned a white leather to new with Dove.

You might like to try the ArmorAll Protectant Wipes that you can use for leather car interiors. They remove a lot of grime, softens, and protect leather really well. Hope this helps.

try rubnrestore.com--- this is a leather stain... also there has been a post on here on how to make the 'sloppy back cushions' look new again, it's by adding buttons to the cushions... I am sure if you search hometalk you can find that post
