What to do about the cats under my porch?

Is there anything out there to keep cats from using the under of my porch as their personal commode? On a warm day it smells awful, and how would you go about getting rid of the "presents"?

  • /the best alternative is to close the area in with lattice to keep the cats out. If you use some sort of pet/animal deterrent you will have to keep reapplying. I would use a leaf rake and try to rake and scoop it up. I would spread lime down to help eliminate odors too. The area has been marked so you will need to neutralize the area and lime can do the trick. good luck

Try cleaning the area up and then apply a citrus scent of sort.Cats do not like the smell .It is a deterrant but will have to be applied repeatedly.

Cleaning the area would be great if you can access the area under your porch. If you can't, I would enclose the area with a decorative lattice or even chicken wire or garden wire fencing...anything the cats can't get through. If they aren't your cats, you can also try to live trap and release them or bring them to their owners...if they are yours, provide an outdoor potty area in a spot away from the porch.
