Napkin Decoupage Birdhouses
We've all seen those gorgeous Easter eggs decoupaged with tissue napkins. In fact, I made some myself this week. And while I had the Mod Podge and napkins out, I looked around my workshop to see if there was anything else I could decoupage. That's when I came up with the idea of adding some colour to these wooden birdhouses I got at the local dollar store.
Craft stores and dollar stores are full of these cute birdhouses right now. They come in a variety of shapes & sizes to suit any decor idea - centerpieces, little ones for place settings, even protect them and actually use them as birdhouses in your yard - who'd have thunk!
Separate the layers of the napkin and tear it into manageable pieces - on a cocktail napkin, I tore it into 6 or 7 pieces. Lay your piece on the sides of the birdhouse and apply the glue. The tissue will absorb the glue and adhere it to the wood. Don't panic if it looks bubbly. That will disappear when it dries.
Once it's dry, paint the roof and bottom sill with a matching colour. I used Annie Sloan Emperor Silk on this one which will become part of my Easter table centerpiece.
Apply a couple of coats of paint, distress if desired. If you want these to hang outside, protect them with some outdoor polyurethane.

I'm stuck here! This is sounds too easy to be true! lol, All you do is glue the thin pieces of napkin to the bird house? That's it? And you got these beautiful bird houses? Spray with "outdoor polyurethane" if I want to put them outside? SOMEBODY PINCH ME....
