About 3 inches thick of straw. Want to destroy the weeds. I do not plan on any plantings here. Do I round-up the area, pull the weeds, remove the straw and spray, spread granular weed killer, etc etc . I want something that Works!! Strong chemicals are good. Thanks

Sounds like you have a weed battle plan pretty well figured out..some folks add landscape fabric to their arsenals...the fabric can often be more of a burden when plantings are involved but if you just going with more mulch it would not pose as much of a problem.

About the only thing you haven't mentioned is spreading heavy black plastic over the area and baking the ungerminated seeds to death. There are some pre-emergents that can be used to help with this problem as well. Weeds are never gone forever. Bird droppings, breezes and pant legs bring new seeds in daily. It is the "Never Ending Battle" we all face.

I have a similar mulch area that I treated similarly. I walk past it with the Roundup bottle once a month and take care of any intruders.
  • Round Up will be the quickest and easiest solution.
