I spent part of my childhood in Indonesia, and this reminds me a little of some of the stone flooring that is common in homes there. I always thought it looked great, and was very clean, but haven't seen anything like it here, until now.

Really, well my step brother is the master of this work here in the NW. He installs it heated as well. He makes just about everything you can imagine.

That material otherwise would have been tossed and he made a work of useful art from it. It's beautiful, like supersized terrazo, with an international flair..

My guess is they want to keep the floor easier to clean.

I would feel some concern about radiation exposure from all that granite.

Job well done. The radiation exposure may be of concern but this work displays great aesthetics.

There is a granite place up the street, and they have displaying Large pieces lately for everyone to see, ever since I saw this last night I can't get it out of my head, I have a question though, which I will find out, is the thickness a big variable, Your floor is beautiful! What a fantastic job.

Love this idea for my downstairs foyer. We are in a split level, and that foyer is visible from the front entry landing. The carpet there is taking a hard beating, and I want to put stone flooring in its place. I love the look of mosaic. Question: How much may this raise the floor elevation because I have the door leading to the garage to consider?

hi all well to do the interior floors wat I use is a quarter inch piece of concrete backer board then the I set the granite with thinset granite remnance three quarter inch so lifting up a little over an inch sa yoy will have to cut bottom of any doors swinging into roomthen to compensate for hight difference must make transition still plates at stopping points in door jams, usuallyextending to the opposite end of jam.
