French Provincial Grain Sack Table
by
Highstyle Restyle
(IC: professional)
After finding this French Provincial side table at the thrift shop, I knew I needed to give it some furniture CPR loving. It had so much potential and I started thinking about the direction I wanted to go with it.
The top was an outdated marble, which would be an easy fix to build a new wooden one.
Now, this was interesting accessory on the back of the table. My 7-year-old discovered it was the perfect size for a cell phone but it was tacky and needed to go! I simply removed and filled the holes before I started painting.
Here's the new top in place and ready for the finishing touches. I painted the base coat with General Finishes Driftwood and added a few layers of glaze for dimension.
Measuring and taping the grain sack stripes for my non-math brain took a little bit of trial and error but the result is perfect, I think. :)
I finally got to use my Silhouette for the first time to create the rest of the stencil. Don't you just love when the vision in your mind comes to life? I'm thrilled with the restyle and now I just need to find it a forever home.
