Hunter Douglas Nantucket Blinds vs Silhouettes Blinds

Marge
by Marge
Hello,
I am shopping for bedroom blinds. Hunter Douglas has come out with a less expensive, sheer blind, that compares to their Silhouettes. They are not cheap, but are lower priced, than the Silhouettes. There are fewer fabric samples, but there must be other differences. Has anyone purchased these? Does anyone know of other differences I should be cautious about. They do carry the same Hunter Douglas warranty. Thank you.

I can only tell you about the Silouhette. Yes expensive, but we put our up in 1992--yes, 24 years ago! The only downside to these is taking them down to wash which should be done once a year, especially if you have an open floor plan like ours. That can be difficult on the older models as ours is, and hopefully they have improved the ability to remove them. It is literally a pain in the neck. Check the difference in the quality of the fabric ie the tightness of the weave, how they look in the light for filtering sun, etc. Also would recommend not going with color and stick to neutral. When you're spending this much money you want it to transcend all decor changes. Finally, your best bet is to ask a pro. Call Hunter Douglass or Google. I would have done this but you didn't give the product name for the less expensive blind.

I bought my room darkening sheer shades from blinds.com. Unfortunately, I can not answer your HD question.

The slats on Nantucket (less expensive ) are bonded polyester(softer, will absorb dirt) slats on Silhouette (except cheapest pattern) are woven polyester(looks cleaner longer)

My daughter and I ordered from Only Blinds (?) I think that was the name. Received them quickly, fit perfectly, couldn't ever find a price lower.

As mentioned above, check out blinds.com. I was very please with the woven woods that I ordered. They also provided free samples and everything shipped quickly.

Error: I ordered from JUST BLINDS.com not Only Blinds. Excellent. Wish I had more windows so I could order again.
