Transforming an existing arbor

We really spiced this existing arbor up for a client! Pressure washing, fabric, lanterns, and a little creativity and you are set! :) You can use outdoor fabric to achieve longevity of the look but we like change so we used a cheaper mesh fabric :) These photos were taken by Christina Wedge Photography... She's the best ;)

This fabric and the lanterns make ALL the difference. Gorgeous against the stone and wood. This is a beautiful transformation!

Very nice! Love the color. Think I saw same or similar material (white) at IKEA, so this is very much doable.

When you use fabric panels outdoors and with lots of sun, is there a specific type of fabric to use? Are they just put up for an event or left out? Probably some novice questions.

Kevin, there is a fabric that is made for outdoor use and that will work but this fabric we used will last for some time.(it's a mesh fabric). You either leave it up or use this for an event as well.

I still am not clear what fabric I would shop for. What is a "mesh fabric?" (I like change too so long term commitment is not a good thing)....

    Linda,

A mesh fabric is similar to cheese cloth....can see through it pretty much. There is tons of outdoor fabrics available if you are unsure what to get...you can look in cloth stores and seek out options.

My sister used a light weight painter's canvas to drape across the top of her pergola to filter out the harsh noon sun.

Looks fantastic. I love bringing the indoors out and I think fabric is a great way to do that. And lanterns always make a space (IMHO). Thanks so much for sharing.

This is absolutely breath taking I have an arbor on our pool deck that lets in too much sun and not enough shade but here in Tennessee its windy alot, I was thinking fabric but I have some pesky vines that I think I will put up and then hang some lanterns that I have I will have to post when completed but thank you for the inspiration.

You are very welcome Shala! A vine would def work! I have seen some great vine covered arbors with lanterns that look stunning as well!

I love the use of fabric outdoors. I also like using a less expensive fabric so I can change it more often. I also like the light, flowing look of your fabric. That adds softness to the feel of the setting.
