Dollar Tree DIY Gold Thumbtack Wreath

2 Materials
While looking for something additional to add to the photo gallery above my daughter's bed I came up with the idea to make a gold thumbtack wreath. Her room has touches of gold because I'm obsessed with gold and I thought this would be just more gold to add to the mix!
I started with a styrofoam wreath and gold thumbtacks from Dollar Tree.
To get this fish scale design I made sure to overlap the thumbtacks as I worked around the wreath
The wreath gets really heavy! I used about 2000 thumbtacks which was about 7 boxes in total
Totally thrilled with the outcome. More photos on my blog

This is lovely, I am sitting here thinking about adding faux magnolia leaves or something simple to it. I think if using it as a Christmas door wreath.

Keep in mind though that the wreath is quite heavy after it is full with the thumb tacks, so adequate hardware will be needed to hang it on a door.

If you are pleased with the results of your magnolia embellishments, then post a picture here to share it with other Hometalkers.
