by Barb Rosen
Not only do I love to garden, I love to paint the flowers and birds seen there! In fact, watercolor painting has become a new-found love.
Baby Hummingbirds by Barb Rosen
After I retired three years ago, I signed up for watercolor painting classes. Every week since, I paint something from my gardens or Longwood Gardens, where I take the classes.

A friend gave me a couple books of vintage sheet music and I decided birds would look especially nice on the aged paper. Plus I had fun matching some of the song titles to specific bird personalities!
Pansies by Barb Rosen
Recently, I found a vintage gardening book and have been painting flowers on its pages. I love how the text pops through the watercolor painting, don't you?
Bird Prints in a vintage window by Barb Rosen
Using old windows, I have framed prints of my pictures, too. They make a wonderful accent on a wall or gifts for special friends. I distress the frames and then rub a bit of color in so the paint cracks are accentuated.
Our Fairfield Home and Garden's new shop!
So many of Our Fairfield Home and Garden's readers and friends asked about buying my artwork that I had prints made and set up a shop on my website! I hope you will visit and see more of my watercolor paintings. Thanks for taking a peek! Barb
