Saaaadly - my poor bleeding heart must have bled to death!! I put one in a semi-shaded area a couple of years ago. Pretty much died out over summer but came back the following spring - then it just completely went kaput. Maybe I had a sickly one right from the start - dunno but I was so disappointed!!

They don't do well in the south....I've planted several in Atlanta and they have always died out....such a beautiful addition to any garden though

Try Dicenta eximia 'Luxuriant' for southern gardens, does well

I'm not familiar with the South but if you love bleeding hearts and the soil isn't right for them maybe you could try planting one in a container with a potting mixture.
