Fantastic! I'm getting ready to redo my kitchen and am going with concrete counters and stained concrete flooring...hope my counter tops turn out this well!
Sure, go to our website www.burcollc.com and on the contact page just send an email with your contact info where I can get back in touch with you. You dont have to fill it all out, just an email address will work, unless you would rather me call you. I will get you a couple of names and numbers, I have a friend who works in Kansas but I don't know how close you are to him. I will google your city and let you know who is close.
Word to the wise, be cautious when getting a contractor to install concrete counter tops I know of a few that have been seriously taken for tons of cash for crappy work and some simply just over charge you for labor. Concrete takes less labor than Granite and Wood counters so don't let them lie to you. Otherwise, I love them and we have them in our kitchen too!
How did you make your concrete countertops John? What should someone pay for concrete countertop installation? I think everyone should know what they will have to pay for installation before allowing someone to come install. If you know what something cost before having it done, you cant be over charged, right? Less Labor than granite or wood?? Theres more labor that goes into making concrete countertops than any other countertop available.
How do you make these counter tops for your kitchen? Do you just smear the cement over the existing laminate counter top? Please advise or advise where I can find out about it on line. Tx :)
Concrete countertops do not need any type of special reinforcement for the cabinets, they weigh about the same as granite sometimes less. We have never had to reinforce any cabinets we made tops for.
Burco, our counter tops are 2" at the front and 1 1/2" everywhere else with a built in drainboard that drains into the concrete sink. We had the entire countertop cast in place which saved us a little of money since they wanted another $150 if they had to transport and install them. The original estimate was $110 a foot plus labor but once everything was said and done with myself helping some to lower the labor cost the entire project ran us $88 a foot and 5 hours times 2 finishers at $42

an hour. Total: 27 feet @ $88 per foot + 10 hours @ $42 an hour + tax = $3015.93. The Granite estimate was around $7000.00
I have always loved concrete countertops since they started using them. Your work is wonderful. Love the concrete countertop with integral sink pictured above. It's to die for. One day........ one day............ dreaming and wishing.
Burco, I didn't elaborate much on the Granite estimate because my comment was getting a little on the long side but it included a $1300.00 sink my wife picked out, 12" back splash in the same granite, double ogee edge and of course the dark grey granite was one of their rarest ones they could get but that is what the wife feel in love with UNTIL i talked her into the concrete (plus a new outfit and shoes). I love the counter tops and sad to say our house just went on the market so I will be remodeling again sometime soon I am sure lol
Harold, it is sealed, it is special concrete, and it is reinforced with various types of fiber.
everyone else, thanks!
