Agreed, Wall to Wall! Nothing's worse than installing a great new floor just to find out you have mildew growing underneath later on.

Do you recommend and specific ways to test this? Also, how would you remedy the problem?

Very Accurate concrete moisture meters are available on the market. Any reputable flooring dealer will have one and insist on testing before laying hardwood on concrete. A simple home test can be done by duct taping a window of plastic to the floor (Air Tight ) wait about 48 hours and remove plastic. If you see a darkening in the concrete due to moisture, you have a moisture content to high to lay wood. This method is not nearly as accurate as a meter but can be useful. Also , testing ...»
should be done in numerous places in the floor. If you lay a wood floor over a concrete floor with moisture mildew will be the least of your problems. The glue will not hold and the wood will LEAP off the floor. Call for the fix.

I agree, and Dry Loc concrete sealer is a great product to use to keep the moisture out to prevent the moisture from getting through to the floor.

Dry lock is best applied to concrete walls and not floors. The mfg will confirm this..

Bullseye, Over 3 lbs of MVP is too much for these floors. I use a moisture meter for wood which can give the first indication of moisture in the concrete. If it is high, I run a full calcium chloride test to determine the depth of the moisture buildup. There are products available to the professional to mitigate moisture out of floor surfaces. Dry lock and others are not for floor applications. We can mitigate up to 25lbs of MVP down to 3 lbs or less.
