From Sewing Machine Cabinet to Charming Vanity

Once again, I brought home a piece of furniture that seemed hopeless! However, it had its chance!
The antique sewing machine cabinet was quite worn out. Wood on the cover was in very bad state and one of its legs was broken. However, it had a wonderful style with that carved pattern on the door, so I decided to try!
I "peeled off" the cover as I decided a mirror would be used to hide all this wood.
To make it open backwards (and not sidewards as it was ariginally) had to change the position of hinges. Cover ready!
I wanted to give some elegance by adding new and higher legs. These are the extremes that I had cut off an old headboard. I will use part of them as legs
There it is: legs ready!
And now it is time to work on the door, the most visible part! I want to use here the design of a vintage lable of soap, to make something feminine and romantic. At the same time, I want to take advantage of this wood carving in the centre of the door
I use decoupage flowers and paint letters and frames following the designs I found on the web.... door ready!
Last part of the work: the interiors. I want this piece to be a vanity, with space to kee pieces of jewelry or cosmetics . I bought some boxes of different shapes and sizes and decorated them with romantic papers.
Painted the outside very pale blue and inside pastel green. And here it is, ready for a romantic bedroom
When you open the mirror, there is a space where the old machine was, suitable as storage place.
And the door keeps all the little boxes for extra space. Decorative and useful at the same time!
