Updated Ottomans Using Old Jeans

We use the ottomans all the time, probably more than we sit at the kitchen table. They were stained and the wear and tear was starting to show, so this time, I decided to make slipcovers. That way when they got dirty, I could just throw them in the wash.
I started my search for fabric. I wanted something durable and in the blue/indigo family. While I was searching, I remembered that I had saved my son’s old skateboarding jeans.
I saved the jeans because they were in good condition (except for the frayed hem) and I though I could do something with them. Mostly I kept them because they reminded me of his skateboarding days. Those jeans held up through every trick and ride until he came in one day and announced he was retiring from skate boarding. He didn’t just stop skateboarding, he “retired” it was so cute.
I used a seam ripper to disassemble the jeans. I like the whiskering on the top, front part of the jeans so I used that part to make the top of the ottoman. I used the leg of the jeans to make the side panel of the ottoman. I used the finished leg seam as the hem for the ottoman. Why sew a hem if you don’t need too?
I liked the jean slipcover, but it looked a little plain. I decided to add some trim that I had picked up from HomeGoods a couple of years ago. I was able to make two slipcovers from one pair of jeans.
