Carpenter Bee Trap

I wanted to hold off on posting this until I got some successful responses but it does look like DIY carpenter bee traps work. Google "No Sting Bee Trap" for a video but here are some examples sent to me by folks who've made one themselves.

We haven't noticed paint on wood deterring them at all! The fourth photo (See 1 more photo above) is one of our traps. We took one to friends when we went for a visit on Easter and hung it in their patio area. We all watched one of "their" bees enter the trap and everyone cheered! Within a few minutes the homeowner was in his workshop emptying unused bottles of water and building more traps!!!! Now if we could find a specific wood scent to apply that would entice the bees to investigate!!
