Birdhouses

Hubby was cleaning out his shop. He had lots of "scrap" wood left over from a multitude of projects. Rather than tossing it, he decided to build birdhouses. We're enjoying our new "flying neighors". LOL, he is still building bird houses! I think he has 4 more under construction

When I was a long-term volunteer down in New Orleans, there was a very creative Americorps volunteer who was always collecting our plywood, trim board, etc., scraps and making them into birdhouses. They were wonderful and made cute gifts for the homeowners we worked with.

If I was a bird I would love to live here.

Do they really make their nest in there? or get in? Do you put some food inside to attract them? I would love to have them in my patio :)

Yes, they really live in these. We have several bird feeders in the yard. LOL, you have to be careful where you put them or you will be very unhappy with the mess they make. We have them in trees in the yard and on the fence.

Great to see "scraps" go to such good use. Your birds have very cheerful homes!

There was a similarly huge birdhouse in my yard when I bought the place, but it was falling apart and really looked awful, so I took it down. I've been looking to replace it for over a year now. How much would your hubby charge for that 6-seater, unpainted?? :)

I spoke w/my hubby. Building a birdhouse for you wouldn't be a problem. However, the shipping of a birdhouse of this size and weight would be expensive :-(. I don't think you would be happy with the shipping charges that the post office charges
