broken grill makeover

I had a couple of old grills going to waste, i converted them into planters for fun. Im So not a gardener but it was fun and it was my first home and the patio looked barren and all i had was an overgrown bush, some tiger lillies and some weeds at the time.

Cool idea especially for those who have small gardening spaces. This would be fun for a roof top garden.

I love what you did with the grill. I love to decorate the yard and inside the home with little or no out of pocket cost. Great Job!

I made an herb garden out of mine. Have it right next to my back door so I don't have to venture to far for my herbs while cooking dinner.

wow guys i had no idea this was going to be so well. welcomed here :D i love it, and i may have found my new home online :D to answer some questions, i have not run into a problem with it getting too hot in the sun, in order to prep these containers i spraypainted the inside top so it would blend in, and used flat paint instead of reflective, i also used tape over the holes where the electrical parts and the openings in the bottom , i left some open but not enough for dirt to fall out, to ...»
ensure you dont see a lot of the tape or notice it i used the metallic spraypaint you get at walmart. i also kept the grates i am planning on builiding a brick grill, they also work on blocks with a hole under it for coal, since i live out of town they work great as cooking additions for my fire pit. I try not to throw things away if i dont have to. i think if you like this you will like what i post later :D thanks so much guys! and whoever said the plant selection was magazine quality WOW THanks! and i apologize for the ugly panda thing, lol i did throw that away :D

Raven, you did an amazing job!!!! In the last town that my husband and I lived in, we were allowed to take things from the metal pile. That is where we got our Weber Grill. It needed a little love, but after a couple of days of work on it, it was in prime condition for grilling. We got 6 years out of it, but it finally kicked the bucket this year. We were going to take it to the dump, but now, I know what to do with it. I'm always looking for ways to keep things out of the landfills. ...»
My husband and I have almost NO trash...we recycle EVERYTHING we possibly can, and what we can't recycle, can't compost, and don't want to throw away, we find unique ways of reusing them. Whether it be here at our house, or at one of our many other friends houses. Recycling, Reusing and Repurposing are what we do best!!!!

What a great idea. For a "non-gardener" you did a great job. Just shows what you can do if you just apply the old noodle (as in brain.)

I never ever Imagined my grill photos from like 6 years ago would get such an overwhelming response :D what a happy time for grills everywhere, hopefully your treating them well, not hoping for them to retire at an early age :D no seriously though i really really appreciate all of the feedback and amazing compliments! Keeping it real for grills everywhere :D liz

Hi Raven, thanks for sharing this idea. It inspired me to use a very old wood burning stove that leaked smoke out of every crevice. I am using it as a flower stand on my deck. Carla
