Hewitt Remodeling Services LLC on May 30, 2013Cindy, We don't know anyone in the industry down in that area. However, Joyce Hearn of our local Tidewater Builders Association was able to get me some information. There is a Martin County HBA (Home Builder's Association). The point of contact is Pam Burbage; (252) 792-3006; email pamelaj7920 @yahoo.com TimHelpful Reply

Leslie D on May 30, 2013homeadvisor.com is a great resource. Everyone is prescreened and you get to see reviews from prior customers. Get at least 3 bids and make sure you compare apples to apples on their proposals. Some builders may exclude items that are included in other bids. Thank you for your service!Helpful Reply

Randi Destefano on Jun 12, 2013Cindy, before you hire someone, make sure that you hire an independent professional to review the plans with you and for you. It would be so disappointing to think you were getting something and it wasn't in the plans and/or the contract. My next piece of proactive advice would be to hire an independent project coordinator/inspector to visit the job site frequently during construction. Sometimes builders and project managers overlook quality control of their subs. Unfortunately, I'm seeing this more and more. By the time you move in and notice it the crooked tile, etc. it's took late to fix. Good luck! And remember that it should be a fun and exciting process for you and your husband.Helpful Reply
