We've done a lot of DIY projects in our backyard and I'm showcasing them all in a series called Backyard Retreat! First up in our series is "wooden awnings"!

"Before"....back of house was flat and boring!
"After"... just a little wood and 3 days of work made a world of difference!
Adding hanging planters completed the look!

Adding some retractable covers on those awnings would allow some great shade over the inside of your home! Depending on the location, it may not be too ideal for outdoor shading due to the 90 degree angle! Looks great though!
