Old weathered door turned coffee table

Hey Hometalkers! I wanted to share this coffee table that my handy husband created for me using some furniture grade wood, spindle legs, an old wooden door and some copper piping. My neighbor had this weathered old exterior door out on the curb for trash pickup. I stopped and asked if we could have it, and he hand delivered it to my basement! My husband cut it in half, framed it out and added legs, then added the copper pipe as an accent underneath. I absolutely love the way this table turned out. It's sturdy and is perfect for my son to race his cars around the "tracks". Thanks for letting me share! :) http://unskinnyboppy.blogspot.com/2011/08...

Thanks so much for the positive feedback everyone! The storage baskets came off my Pier One registry in 2004. They used to hold toys but now I've moved them up into my office. :)

Hey Angel, we don't have any plans because my husband usually just wings it when he builds tables. I do have another tutorial on my blog where he built a table from an old wooden window. Here is the link to it! I will share some photos of it on here as well so it doesn't get buried in this thread. :) http://unskinnyboppy.blogspot.com/2008/09/tu...

What a perfect way to recycle! My friend used one of our hollow core doors as a craft table. she used the hole where the doorknob was to run the plug board cable through. She just sat it atop two filing cabinets she already had.

@Betty, Loving that idea! If glass is too expensive, there is always Plexiglass...Maybe safer for a coffee table that takes abuse from grandkids and their cars...LOL
