Bathroom Design & Décor Flooring Kitchens Living & Dining Room

I am trying to decide on what to do with my flooring.

I have carpet that was installed in 1989 everywhere but kitchen and bath. I had laminate flooring laid in kiitchen and breakfast room 3-4 yrs. ago. My living room and dining room both connect with kitchen and breakfast room. Is it going to work okay to put hardwood down in the living room area? And do I need to try and match it up with the laminate in the kitchen. I also have stained trim and do not want to paint it. Should I just stick with carpet or could I do hardwoods with making it look too scattered.

Mismatching can always become complimenting. You can also inlay a room divider that is attractive and eases the transition.

Why not put Laminate since you already have it in other areas? If you could find hardwood to match the laminate color that will be best, that will create uniformity. But I also do agree with James

you are welcome. i feel laminate will work best due to the easy clean up & low maintenance. carpet is not family or pet friendly. tile is ok for high traffic & areas where water is an issue.
