Has anyone updated a bathroom lately? I want to raise the countertops, what about granite OR quartz? what about sinks?

    There have been several interesting and insightful discussions about granite v.s. quartz. Overall, most people choose granite for its natural movement/beauty .. Quartz for tight patterns.

    Sinks - under mount has been the popular choice for cleaning the top surface, the negative is cleaning the small under edge. But alas, drop in has a caulk line at eye level and that too can be difficult to maintain/clean.

    We agree with BeckySue, she is right on about the materials! We have updated MANY bathrooms lately and have done several custom cabinetry heights to suit the owners.

    Granite or engineered stone/quartz is great looking and an excellent choice for high-end bathrooms and guest baths. But I am still a large fan of cultured marble with integrated sinks when it comes to high-use bathrooms for kids and the like. It is not your "mom's" cultured-marble of even a few years ago as the choice in colors/styles/patterns has been multiplied several times. It makes good ...»
