DIY Tree Border Garden

3 Materials

My husband and I have been working on getting our backyard back in shape, and we decided to kick off our backyard projects with a little DIY border garden for the tree in our backyard! I painted the boring old border that we used to have and planted a few flowers, and it made a huge difference in the whole yard! You can see more details and all of the details about the flowers by clicking through to the full blog post!

I had some garden border already, but I didn't like the look of it. So, I grabbed some outdoor spray paint in a blue-green color and in white.

I sprayed the interior of the border in this pretty blue...

And I painted the exterior white! Because of the sharp angles, I didn't even have to tape off any of the border, I just was careful with my spraying and I didn't have any issues with overspray.

After the paint dried, I put it in place around the tree - the hard part was already done for me on this project because the border had been there from a previous flower bed that we had allowed to die, but all you have to do is dig out a shallow trench around the area where your border will be (it helps to lay the border out on the grass first to see where you need to do) and place the border in a circle around the tree. For more details you can click through to the full blog post!

Unfortunately. The paint will not last long, at all, when you use a lawn-edger trimmer for the lawn. If you use a whipper-snipper (in Australia), the cord that is used to cut the lawn edges, will absolutely, and thoroughly, strip off all the paint in no time - no matter whether oil based or water based.
