My Kitchen Remodel DIY Butcher Block Countertops

I've been really busy on my kitchen remodel but I'm almost finished. Here are some pictures of my new butcher block cabinets with a thick poly finish. The cost for custom was outrageous so I made my own for a fraction of the cost! So shiny, so easy to care for, and so pretty. You can go to my blog the DIY information at http://pjhdesignsoneofakind.blogspot.com/201...

Yes it is Becky Sue and I left one area by my stove without a finish and just treated it with mineral oil to use as a butcher block to chop my vegetables. It should last for years with this finish on it. Cleans up easily also.

I always liked that look and it's a great example of making it your home....just be prepared to change them out if you ever decide to sell the home. I like it but most buyers won't

Very nice finish. I did not know that the heat would help with the bubbles.

Hi HandyAndy, yes I know these aren't for everyone but if you order these they cost as much as granite! We live on a small lake and plan to die here lol so it will be up to my kids. :-)

I made a bar like that in college. :) We taped down coasters, deck of cards, bottle caps and other things like that before we poured on the poly. it looked like it was sort of floating under the poly when it finally dried. Other things could easily be added as long as the poly covers it well.

Thanks everyone I'm glad you like it. Yes Seth my husband had a few things he thought would look neat embedded in the top but I nixed it. :-)

Do they have a product like EnviroTex for floors that you know of?

Hi Margery C, I don't know if they have anything like it for floors. I would suggest you check at your local paint store. I do know that an area that large would be difficult to do.

Looks like it would work for a crafting counter top as well. Good job!

thank you Peggy. I imagine it would be hard to do but so worth it for me and the three dogs. If I find anything or decide to use enviro Tx lite, I'll let you know the results :)
