I'm using large empty cans to plant veggies for the kids on earth day. How do I attach the rope to a chain link fence so the cans can be removed.
What can we use to hang this planter to a chain link fence so it can be removed. ? s hooks?

It looks like you already have a handle from rope, why can't you just put that over the fence post? If you want them lower, you could staple wire to the area you want it, or even just a nail angled up, and hang it on the nail, or use an S-hook for the wire,

I would simplify and just use the S hook.

I would try the shower curtain hooks that close. I prefer the metal ones. I use them to hang my bucket of clothes pins on the line. I think Dollar Tree or Walmart has them. S hooks could get bumped and dislodge.

my idea was also an s hook! Or snap hooks that alot of people use to put keys on, not the rings but the ones that snap!

I would use a clear shower ring that would attach to the fencing. S hooks would work too but they are more likely to be knocked down, especially with little hands that may be a bit less controlled.

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas. Eliminated s hooks because of heavy weight. Also thought of shower curtain ring that closes. Hope they will hold the weight. Will use them because I have so many and trying to keep down cost.

S hooks come in all sizes and weights. They would work just fine.

You can also tie the roped cans to the fence w/some of the same rope (double knots) and just cut it later--its plenty strong! Nothing more needed.

    Maybe using some "S" hooks

Jute, just wrap as much of the can as you want then go through the fence a couple times with the jute. You might want to attach it to the fence with wire or zip ties first then cover with jute.

sknce I don't know what you will be using the cans for, I like the zip ties idea best . Use two ties per can for added stability

They turned out great with "s" hooks. Making it easier to remove from the chain linked fence for watering.. We planted veggies in the pots', painted bright colors and the kids put on stickers for earth day.

WalMart has cup holders for 28 oz cups and they are great for putting things where they never would have been :+)
