Help- outdoor light re-do

OK, all you delightfully creative people, I welcome any and all suggestions. We built a small back porch with a roof and this is the outdoor spot light that has always been there. We put in a ceiling fan with a great light, but I don't want to get rid of this light because, when needed, it lights up the whole back yard. It's too expensive to relocate it outside of the porch so what idea does anyone have to "dress this up" or "disguise it," yet let it remain functional. Thanks in advance!

How about building a wooden frame around just the front of the light to allow the function to remain the same. This way it is not as visible.

If this is a motion detection light you'll have a hard time covering anything because the "eye" needs to be exposed . Adding a frame around or over it will only bring more attention to the fixture. I say draw your attention to the beautiful space you've created and ignore the light as it is a necessity that you've stated you can't relocate.

Lynne, I have the exact same fixture and problem. I found a welcome sign and glued it to the bottom of an oblong plastic planter (the kind that sit in the over the rail brackets) and just hung it directly onto the fixture. When we need the extra light, we just lift it off.

I think the attention would be on those spot light because the wall is just too plain. Maybe you could put some wall deco you can find in Wayfair: http://bit.ly/1SlEN1j or wall planter set: http://bit.ly/1S18WRF. ;-)

Install some low voltage landscape lighting and replace the wall lamp with something more decorative.
